REVIEWS
OF LISA BRIGANTINO’S
CD "A BROOKLYN NIGHT":
" 'A Brooklyn Night' is a splendid album. With the help of some stinging
guitar work by her husband, Tomi Millioto, Brigantino puts together a
varied selection of tasty musical entrees. She sings with a lot of soul and grit,
showing the spirit of a true New Yorker. She plays one mean acoustic
guitar
and sings like a woman that is full of life and plenty of it to share
with her audience. All the emotions are harnessed and delivered right on time
in every song. This is all very well done."
- Keith "Muzikman" Hannaleck - The Global Muse Music Magazine
“This is a gem, a beautiful collection of poetic, melodic tracks.
The arrangements, by Lisa and her husband Tomi Millioto, are mostly sparse
and organic, allowing the beauty of Lisa's voice and lyrics to shine
through. It's one of those CDs that you'll want to listen to over and
over again. I heard echoes of Joni Mitchell, Sheryl Crow, Alison Kraus,
Mama Cass Elliott with a sprinkle of Janis Joplin thrown in for flavour!
Lisa has a beautiful way of bending her notes when she sings. Some people
say that the human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all but
also the most difficult to master. Listen to Lisa and you'll see what
I mean…”
- Bassgirls.com
" Rootsy folk musing with the refreshing warmth of a well recorded acoustic
guitar, a soulful singer, and crystalline vocal harmonies
that sound like angels tapping in on a radio signal."
- Listen.com
"
Wow! That's about all I can say after listening to "A Brooklyn Night"!
Lisa's wonderful vocal sound and style immediately caught my ear
followed by her spectacular guitar work. Cool songs and arrangements,
great work
by her collaborators...I'll definitely be listening to this again..."
- CMD Music
" The whole package, from the look, to the mix, the harmonies, the arrangements
- it's both warm and bright at the same time. And somehow, they've
managed to make acoustic and electric songs all fit. Best wishes for success
with this beauty."
- Sleeping Giant Records
" ...Great songs. Impeccable musicianship. Very comforting guitar sounds
and the vocals are gorgeous. The production is just killing me.
This CD rocks. I dream of making a record like this. I strive to make a record
like this. Beautiful work."
- MeDiaDAMagE
" ...The songs, the melodies, the singing and playing make this recording
something really special. Obviously, much love and care was
put into this project and the results are simply outstanding.
- Corelli Jacobs Recording
" ...Great voice, clear prolific lyrics and stirring melodies..."
- WVKR 91.3 Poughkeepsie, NY
"A beautiful CD...Lisa has a strong and flexible
voice. The music is very diverse. "A Brooklyn Night" will
stay a very long time on my play list!"
- Ray Pieters, Radio Milo, 103.1, Belgium
" ...Very nice CD. Good graphics, too. I'm listening to it for the third
time right now! Nice guitar work, great engineering."
- Dynamic Recording
" 'Oh Sister' is good female folk. 'Blue Jeans' proves the lady can really
strum a guitar. She's an original with quite a good vocal range. 'I
Choose Life A Different Way' is a good piece of band business which should end
up on alternative radio. My favorite is 'Holding On For Something'.
This
song is just beautiful, beautiful music. Good control over her voice,
her ability. That plus the media attention she's been getting in the
mags, I can see her as a Lisa to contend with."
- Ben Ohmart, NZone Magazine
" Musically, Lisa Brigantino blends classic folk with bluesy folk-rock.
She has a good voice and there's great guitar work that's folkie,
funky and rocky, and a good back beat to boot."

REVIEWS OF LIVE PERFORMANCES:
" The combination of expert classical style and a folk-rock flair give
Lisa's music a refreshing style; while her work as a composer for
film and theatre lends her material an added dimension."
- Peekaboo Festivals of New Music and Theatre
" ...Lisa Brigantino displays an impressive array of original material...
Not only is she an expert instrumentalist with vocally a good folk
sound, but she also exudes a wonderful energy performing for and with her audience...Lisa
Brigantino has a bright future."
- NY Metro
" Harmonious, melodic, smooth, bluesy, funky, rootsy all these describe
the music of Lisa Brigantino. She conveys a lot through her words,
and more importantly, her vocal styling itself. If I was a folk-rockin woman
from New York City with one hell of a lot to say, my name would
be Lisa Brigantino."

WITH LEZ ZEPPELIN:
“
Lisa Brigantino is note for note for note perfection. She is thunder.
She’s the dangerous criminal in the shadows of impending doom.”
- Aspen Daily News
"Bassist Brigantino is the band’s secret weapon. Her versatility
and musicianship are the band’s glue and like JPJ, without her,
there is no “Zep” sound."
-Telluride Daily Planet
"Lisa Brigantino doesn’t miss a beat when emulating John Paul
Jones’ bass
lines..."
-MetOnline
"...Lisa Brigantino is the bassist and she has the inevitable task of
anchoring the bombast with solid bottom and fills and more. Along
with drummer
Helen Destroy, they make the entire enterprise possible. This mothership
has more than enough lift due to Brigantino and Destroy..."
-Epinions.com
"...Their two original instrumentals, the Allman Brother’s
influenced “On
the Rocks,” and the softer “Winter Sun,” in
which Lisa Brigantino’s mandolin recalls Zeppelin’s
gentle “Going
to California,” demonstrate that these girls are damn fine
musicians in their own right..."
- Atlanta Music Guide
“…Lisa Brigantino is a mastermind in her own right, piloting
the basslines, and womanning the mandolin and keyboards. She is a Zeppelin
co-founder. Up on stage she is a musical goddess—rightly so, with
all facets of performance and production running heavy through her bloodline.
Lisa is quite possibly the busiest of the bunch, having her own solo
album, a musical comedy with her sis, and a stunning list of honors,
to say the least. With this absolutely impressive repertoire of projects
and musical proficiency filling her résumé, rumor has it
that she telecommutes to band rehearsals.”

WITH VICKIE & NICKIE
"Adopting the personae
of two sisters from Minnesota...the gals could be decendants of the
Bleem Sisters of years gone by, sired by Garrison
Keillor of NPR fame. Be-wigged and be-hair-sprayed, the gals present
a show that is part stand-up comedy, part gong show. It is an hour of
fun that had this audience member nearly falling off his seat in laughter."
